At least 40 shootings over the weekend (July 19-20).

They are reporting at least 4 fatalities including an 11 year old girl.

Apparently Chicago has turned into The Wild, Wild West.

That is every weekend in Chicago. The home of Obama. It must be his sons.

[h=1]Obama: Chicago Blueprint for National Gun Laws[/h]

obama-pointing-finger.jpg

When President Obama appeared on the Meet the Press on Dec. 30, he made it clear that the same gun laws that have made Chicago a criminal's paradise are going to be pushed on the entire country during 2013.
This is his personal goal and the it's the goal of the Democrat Party.
These laws include high capacity magazine bans, "assault weapons" bans, more intrusive background checks on gun purchases, and squeezing gun shows out of existence.
All of these are being pawned as ways "to make sure that something like what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary does not happen again." However, the cold hard facts are that none of these measures will prevent another Sandy Hook -- none of them.
Look at empirical evidence -- Is Chicago safer because of any of these measures? No, it's actually more dangerous.
Or look at it another way -- Would a more intrusive background check have kept Adam Lanza from committing his crime in Connecticut? No, because he stole his guns, thereby bypassing background checks altogether.
And as I wrote in an earlier post, the VA Tech Review Panel has said pointedly that a high capacity magazine ban "would have not made that much difference" in the 2007 shooting on the Virginia Tech campus.
If any of these news gun laws are passed, the only thing they will do is make it harder for law abiding citizens to obtain the weapons they need to defend their lives, their families, and their property. And in the end, this will leave us with an America that resembles Chicago-level gun crime more and more.
Of course, these are facts, and facts don't matter to a leftist like Obama: a man who still seems haunted by the fact that his one political defeat came in 2000 after a failed gun control push. It was then that Illinois state senator Obama pushed to raise the penalty for illegal transportation of a firearm from a misdemeanor to a felony. But after pushing he skipped town for vacation in Hawaii and the vote failed and Obama was ridiculed.
He entered the White House in 2009 looking to revenge that episode through Fast and Furious. But with Fast and Furious a bust, Obama appears now to be seeking to capitalize on the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy.
It's not logic that drives this gun grab, it's leftist ideology and an enormous ego. Republicans in the House and Senate must stop this freedom-crushing push in its tracks.

Again,

[h=1]Strict Gun Laws in Chicago Can’t Stem Fatal Shots[/h]http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/30/us/strict-chicago-gun-laws-cant-stem-fatal-shots.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Note: there is a nice round zero correlation between strict gun laws and lower gun related crime in America.

I'm waiting for the day the govt put the military in an american city like Chicago to stop the violence.......its obviously out of control & I know the govt is itching to find out how well the military dissolves the situation.

We will see military involvement in american cities in the future, question is when it will happen?

Really? What is the source of this preposterous claim.

From the la times

According to the city, from 2009 to 2013, 60% of the guns used to commit crimes in Chicago were originally bought out of state, mainly in Indiana, Mississippi and Wisconsin. Three of the top four sources for guns recovered in Chicago were gun dealers in Illinois cities near Chicago.

Same goes for our strict drug laws but the USA is the biggest drug users in the world.

It seems that these strict laws don't do a damn......its time to change.

Um, give me a break. He might not have said those exact words, but he tried to enact them. What's worse? saying it, or doing it?
Chicago could ban guns completely and it would make no difference. If no surrounding areas have gun laws they will just bring in guns from the outside. Lets be honest guys

Once again all I said is it wasn't a quote. The graphic makes it seem like it was. That was my only point

Uh, ^ that, is not this: "most of the guns used in the violence come from Indiana."

You apparently can not read.

I'll rephrase it for you. Indiana supplies the most guns for the gun violence of the out of city sources . But the majority of guns come from out of the city period. Be it miss indiana or Michigan.

Chicago had a complete handgun ban.

And yet:

The suggestion there are "no laws" outside of Chicago is laughable and preposterous.

Um, no they don't.

Please list the exact % of guns used to commit crimes in Chicago which were bought in Indiana.

I can't wait to read all about it.
